Apologies from Erin and Kris for the delays in timely submission of this “daily” blog. Once we left the hospital compound, Wi-Fi was spotty, and our days were long. Joanna’s husband Ryan, our posting guru, also ran into some technical issues. We hope you enjoy this farewell day post and photos.
We woke up early to have a great breakfast at our hotel and then head out to beat the crowds at Lemur Island.

To get to the island, we loaded up 2 at a time into canoes, and a staff member paddled us across the water to the island. We saw 2 different types of lemurs sitting among the trees. We couldn’t touch them, but we were able to get close enough to take lots of great pictures. Across the water were the dancing lemurs and a red lemur playing near the river bank. Lemurs are only found in Madagascar, so it was a great experience to see so many and get so close to them. We also had a nice hike in the forest seeing local foliage, flowers, and crocodiles.

Domoina – our amazing “tour leader,” our Malagasy coordinator for the medical clinics/mission trip, and Dr. Harison’s wife.

o speaking lemur 😀

Our mission trip van – handled those Malagasy roads and switchbacks like a champ, thanks to our drivers. And our Apple watches recorded over 10K steps at times as we bounced around in the van for some of our longer trips…easy exercise!

Fearless leader Joanna!

Lunch stop on the road in Moramanga

Last dinner in Tana before heading to the airport and Amy’s missionary family friends who joined us for dinner. What a treat!
And the departure in Tana at the airport…tears, hugs, and much love shared with our new Malagasy friends. God is so good!

Our Malagasy hosts and leaders Dr. Harison and wife Domoina and American mission team leader Joanna – so grateful and blessed by their generosity of spirit and faith in God!

Until the next time, Madagascar! We are so thankful for the opportunities God provided us by this mission trip. Lifetime memories and friendships made while serving as the hands and feet of Jesus to the Malagasy people! God bless all who have supported us on this trip and the people of Madagascar!
